Hair Care

Hair Extension Care Guide (Please Read Carefully )

It’s very important that you follow these steps to properly care for your high-quality hair extensions. I may sound a little strict, but it’s only because I want your hair to last as long as possible. I love y’all—I promise I’m not being mean!

Washing & Conditioning
• Shampoo and condition your hair bi-weekly
• Always wash with lukewarm or cold water (hot water will dry the hair out over time)
• Make sure the hair is fully drenched before applying shampoo

• Shampoo thoroughly, focusing on the top and inside of the wefts
• Work in sections (bundles are thick and need to be cleaned properly)
• Shampoo twice and ensure a good lather

• Do NOT detangle while shampooing — this can cause shedding
• Apply conditioner in sections, finger detangle first, then use a wide-tooth comb
• Let conditioner sit for about 7 minutes, rinse completely, then apply a little more if needed

Leaving conditioner in the hair can cause buildup, making it feel chalky, tangled, and brittle, which leads to shedding

Products to Use
• Only use salon-approved/professional products
Recommended brands: Redken, Nexxus, Olaplex

• My top recommendation:
Nexxus Ultimate Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner + Hair Mask

• Avoid drugstore brands like Pantene, L’Oréal, TRESemmé, Suave, Dove, Aussie, OGX, etc. — these can dry and strip the hair over time

• Use a hair mask once a month

Important Product Rules
• Do NOT use oils or serums (they can make the hair stiff and stringy)
• Do NOT use silicone mix or heavy protein treatments unless the hair is at the very end of its lifespan

Textured Hair Extensions Only (Curly, Deep Wave, etc.)
• Use high-quality natural hair products such as Camille Rose, Mielle Organics, or Miss Jessie’s
• Avoid products like Cantu and Shea Moisture on extensions

Handling & Maintenance
• Always brush hair gently, starting from the ends and working your way up
• Brush before washing to reduce shedding
• Never brush aggressively—this can damage the wefts

• Allow hair to air dry
• Make sure your braids underneath are fully dry before applying heat

Night Care
• Wear a satin or silk bonnet (extra-long for longer hair)
• Use a satin or silk scarf to keep the top flat

Install & Longevity Tips
• Do not keep sew-ins longer than 2 months
• Over time, buildup from oils and products can cause tangling, stiffness, and loss of flow

After Removal Care
• Brush and rewrap hair into bundles
• Wash immediately using a clarifying shampoo, followed by conditioner and a hair mask
• Do not store hair with buildup—this shortens its lifespan

Final Note
Follow these tips to maintain the quality, softness, and longevity of your hair extensions or wigs. Taking proper care makes all the difference!
